More Sketchbook Covers for Elementary School Art Journals

All of my classes have been busy making sketchbook covers.  Here are a few more assignments by grade level:

1st Grade Initials:
I saw this idea at Art Projects for Kids.

The background has crayon texture rubbings and watercolor paint.

3rd Grade:  The students wrote their names in cursive and then surrounded the name with repeating colorful lines.

4th/5th Grade Names:  They drew their names and then covered the negative space with patterns.  Similar to this idea... Name Tangles.

This student chose to branch off on the project and create a lovely background with birds.

  1. Love that they are all so individual! Love the birds, and 'creative emily'!

  2. Did you make the sketch books? If you did how did you bind them?

  3. Sandy, Yes we have been binding them with those thick wire rings. Thanks for asking! Did you know you are a no-reply blogger which means your email address isn't listed? I hope you can see this comment to answer your question.
